“Uplifting Our Legacy of Sisterhood, Leadership and Service”
As I begin my term as the 23rd International Grand Basileus of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, I want to thank all for your support of this administration. You have sent cards, letters, and e-mails with congratulations. You have let us know that you continue to include the Sigma Gamma Rho leadership team in prayer. Thank you for the many well wishes that you have shared. It is an honor to serve as grand basileus.
These are very exciting times for our organization. As expressed in the administration theme, we will begin this year by “Uplifting Our Legacy of Sisterhood, Leadership and Service.” Very soon we will celebrate 90 years of “Greater Service, Greater Progress.” We will hold Founders Day celebrations across the country and during those programs we will acknowledge the work of our sorority in local areas. Nationally, we will hold a celebration in Los Angeles to celebrate Founder Little and then we will travel to Indianapolis to celebrate our remaining Founders. During the month of November we will hold luncheons, dinners, community service activities, and we will give thanks. We encourage you to join us in one of the national celebrations. Register now!
We will focus on leadership this year in our work as community leaders to support voter registration, voter education and voter mobilization. Remember that we must all be a part of the process of selection in our country. We cannot sit at home and think that someone else will take care of the election process. We must be involved!
And finally, our work this year will continue to highlight service. Information on the monthly service focus is being completed for the 2012-2013 sorority year now. Look for this information on the website in the coming days. Our National Program Committee is busy collecting resources which will assist, as we continue to be a leader in providing service to the community. Confirm your chapter plan for service delivery!
